Notice under The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012

On 16 Jul 2024 County Council intends to hold a meeting of the Cabinet at which the following item will be considered: Carriageway Patching Report.

 

The purpose of the item is: To consider investing an additional £1.0m in carriageway patching. The Council’s budget for patching is approximately £1.0m per annum and is used to maintain those sections of road that require greater intervention than pothole repairs as well as address those potholes and defects that don’t meet the Council’s intervention criteria for repair from the revenue budget. There is currently a backlog of patching equating to approximately £3.0m.

 

Under the requirements of Regulation 9 of The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012 the Council is required to give 28 days’ notice of a key decision identified within the scope of these regulations. It is considered that item referred to above would be a key decision and for the reasons of urgency outlined below, compliance is considered impracticable, and an exception to Regulation 9 is therefore sought under Regulation 10 of the above Regulations. It is considered impracticable to comply with the requirements of The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012 because:

 

This decision needs to be considered at the next Cabinet meeting in order for works to progress during the summer months. Delaying this decision would mean works could not commence until autumn.

 

Accordingly a copy of this notice shall be available pursuant to Regulation 5(6) for at least 5 clear days prior to 16 Jul 2024.
